5th KVIS Invitational Science Fair
Our students Tam Ching Yeung (10A) and Liu Ka Kiu (10A) was awarded “Best Oral Presentation Award” in Environmental Science in an International Science Fair organized by Kamnoetvidya Science Academy (KVIS) – 5th KVIS Invitational Science Fair which was held from 24 to 28 January 2022. The research project entitled “Engineering and Characterization of a Poly(ethylene terephthalate) Hydrolase for PET depolymerization” which provide insights in the potential use of a dual enzyme system to synergize PET depolymerization process and adding value to the plastic recycling ecosystem.

GT iGEM Team won a GOLD Medal in iGEM 2021
GT iGEM team (HK_GTC) was award a GOLD medal in the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Competition 2021 which was held from 4 – 14 November 2021.
Our project entitled “PETase & Related Analogous Chimeras Transfused in Computer and AI Learning (PRACTICAL)” developed a dual enzyme system as chimeras and cocktails between PETase and MHETase to speed up plastic degradation. Besides, we used drone and AI technology to train and develop a deep learning PET bottle detection model to map plastic pollution on beaches. To arouse public awareness of plastic pollution issue, we conducted a survey study, iGEM sharing session in school and publicized an educational booklet for all HK secondary schools. International Biology Olympiad – Hong Kong Contest 2021
Our school achieved remarkable results in the International Biology Olympiad – Hong Kong Contest 2021. Our students: LEUNG Gabriel (11A) was awarded a SILVER award; LEE Chak Hei (12A), LO Yuet Hei (10A) and CHAN Cheuk Hei (11A) were awarded a BRONZE medal; WONG Chun Hei (11A) and WONG Chun Lam (10A) were awarded a HONOURABLE MENTION award. Our school was awarded Best Schools Award. The SILVER medal and BRONZE medal awardees are eligible to participate in the Student Training Course for International Biology Olympiad 2022 (Phase I).

18th International Junior Science Olympiad 2021
Our student, Wong Chun Lam (10A) represented Hong Kong to participate in the 18th International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) from 12 to 21 December 2021 and achieved an excellent result. He was awarded a SILVER medal.

In December 2020, two teams of Biology students from G11 and G12 participated in a contest named ‘Biology Literacy Award’ organized by Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education (HKASME). The exam paper of quiz competition was set by faculty staff of Royal Society of Biology, The University of Hong Kong and The Educational University of Hong Kong.
Seven students received awards from hundreds of participants.

The European Physics Olympiad 2020
The European Physics Olympiad 2020 took place on July21-22 online this year..
Five Hong Kong representatives gathered at HKUST to participate in the theory exam on the 20th .Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic,, HKUST was closed and participants were given their experiment paper to be handed in the next day. We are proud to announce that two of our students, Szeto Chun (G12) and Leung Chun Fung (G11) joined the competition and attained good results despite the difficult learning environment. Szeto Chun brings home the Bronze Award while Leung Chun Fung receives an Honorable Mention. Big claps to the prize winners!

International Junior Science Olympiad 2021 – HK Screening
Our school achieved an excellent result in the International Junior Science Olympiad 2021 – Hong Kong Screening. School was awarded the CHAMPION team award. International Biology Olympiad (IBO) Challenge 2020
We are delighted to announce that our student, Tsang Hoi Yeung, Ocean (G12D) was awarded a SILVER award in the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) Challenge 2020. Ocean Tsang achieved outstanding result in the International Biology Olympiad – Hong Kong Contest 2019 which was organized for the second year. She was selected to be one of the four representatives of the Hong Kong team to participate in IBO2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IBO2020 Organizing Committee introduced a remotely conducted competition, IBO Challenge 2020 with both practical and theoretical examinations in August as an alternative to IBO2020 for selected students to showcase their abilities and encounter new aspects of biology. Congratulations on her outstanding performance!

Our student, Leung Chun Fung, John is selected to be a Hong Kong Team Member of the 5th International Olympiad of Metropolises (IOM) which will be held in Moscow, Russia this September.
In this competition, Hong Kong team members were selected from the best performing contestant in the International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO). John Leung was a Hong Kong Team Member of the IJSO 2018 and thus eligible to participate in rounds of training and screening tests for Hong Kong Team Member opportunities to participate IOM.
